한강과 탄천의 합수부를 서울 최초의 본격적인 워터프론트로 재구성하려는 서울시의 야심찬 국제현상공모 제출안이다. 첨단 수리 이론을 통해 기계화된 탄천의 자연 생태를 회복하고 이를 통해 강남 삼성동 일대와 짐실 올림픽 스타디움 일대를 매력적으로 연결하려는 시도였다. 황두진건축은 세계적인 조경회사인 GGN(Gusfatson, Guthrie and Nicole) 콘소시움의 일원으로 참가하여 탄천을 건너는 보행교 및 한강변 마리나, 기타 부속 시설 등 건축물을 디자인했다. 전세계에서 선발된 최종 7개팀 중에서 3등으로 선정되었다.
This was a response to an ambitious bid by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to the global design community, to create a world-class waterfront at the confluence of the Han River and one of its tributaries, Tancheon. The aim was to bring natural ecosystem back to Tancheon, highly mechanized since 1980s’, using latest hydro-ecological technologies and to dramatically reconnect Gangnam and Jamsil areas. As a member of the GGN consortium, DJHA was responsible for the design of architectural elements of the project, including a pedestrian bridge over Tancheon, a marina on the Han River and other others. The GGN consortium was the 3rd-prize winner among 7 global finalists.
