서울시립교향악단은 공공 프로젝트의 일환으로 ‘음악과 건축의 동행’이라는 제목의 콘서트를 준비했다. 전문적인 공연장을 떠나 새로운 공간 자원을 발굴하고 강연과 영상, 음악을 접목하는 새로운 시도였다. 황두진 대표는 피아니스트 조은아와 함께 2017년 여름과 겨울 두 차례에 걸쳐 이 공연의 기획과 진행을 맡았다. 7월에는 성공회 서울 주교좌 성당, 12월에는 천도교 중앙대교당을 선정했다. 두 유서 깊은 건물의 역사와 건축적 특징과 음악을 연결하고 공간을 재배치하여 시민들에게 새로운 개념의 공연을 제공할 수 있었다. 두 번의 콘서트는 모두 매진되었으며 뜨거운 반응을 불러 일으켰다.
The Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra hosted a concert series called ‘Music and Architecture’ as a part of its public relations program. The idea was to bring talks, images and music together in a non-conventional setting. Architect HWANG, Doojin collaborated with pianist CHO, Euna in curating and hosting the events twice, in the summer and winter of 2017. The venues of choice for July and December were the Seoul Cathedral, Anglican Church of Korea and the Cheondogyo Central Church respectively. The audience were treated with a new type of concert, in which history and architecture of these two venerable monuments cross with music in new spatial arrangements by DJHA. The two concerts were sold-out and received enthusiastic reviews.
