구로소방서 구로119안전센터는 2012년 서울형 공공건축가를 대상으로 한 디자인 공모전에서 당선되어 진행된 프로젝트다.
구로119안전센터는 세 갈래의 도로가 만나는 교차점에 자리잡고 있다. 건물 양쪽의 기존 스카이라인이 4층 이상과 2층 이하로 서로 달라 건물의 매스를 수직적으로 구분 처리하여 도시의 방향성을 유지하였다.
소방대원들의 다양한 업무가 이뤄지는 핵심공간인 차고와 사무공간을 외부로 적극적으로 드러내어 개방적이며 열린 소방서의 이미지를 만들었다. 소방서라는 특수시설에 요구되는 기능적인 공간들은 층별로 계획되어, 지하와 지상 1층은 차고, 사무실 등 업무 공간으로, 2, 3층은 대기 및 휴게공간으로, 4층은 체력단련실, 식당, 의소대회의실 등 공용공간으로 사용된다.
작은 대지에서 자투리 공간을 활용하여 조성한 쌈지공원은 지역주민을 위한 도심 속의 휴식공간이자 소방서의 공공성을 위한 공간이다. ‘일목조경'(One-Tree Landscape) 개념을 적용한 쌈지공원은 한 그루의 느티나무(구로구의 상징)로 중심 경관을 조성한 후 그 주변에 벤치를 마련, 공공적이면서도 내밀한 휴식공간을 제공한다.
건물의 외부는 기능성 외피(익스펜디드 메탈)를 설치하여 직사광선을 막아주고 적절한 채광과 개방감을 확보했다.
Guro Fire Station Guro 119 Safety Centre was built after winning the design competition open to the Seoul Public Architects in 2012.
Located at a junction where three roads meet, buildings on either side of the fire station are different in height and orientation. The mass of the fire station is divided into two; the higher floors face the road in the same direction as the 4-storeys high buildings and the lower floors are set back in line with the 1~2-storeys high buildings.
The equipment bays and offices, where most activities take place are clearly visible from the outside, intended for a fire station which is open and accessible to all. Each floor is planned according to the functions and requirements specific to a fire station: on the 2nd and 3rd floors, there are accommodations and a lounge andthe communal areas such as gym, dining room are on the 4th floor. A meeting room, which is regularly used by local volunteer fire-fighters, is also located on the top floor.
A small pocket-sized park squeezed next to the fire station is an intimate public space. A single zelkova tree, the symbol of the Guro district, has been planted, hence applying the concept of the “One-Tree Landscape”. The planter where the tree is located can also be used as seating area, providing an unexpected peaceful sanctuary within the urban.
The exterior is enveloped in expanded metal, keeping the building out from direct sunlight while providing interesting views.
